System Reliability and Resilience

The HeliOffshore Safety Intelligence Programme (HSIP) revealed 22% of fatal accidents were a result of technical or mechanical failure, or a problem with the human-machine interface.

The collaboration within this workstream helps the industry develop designs, implement procedures and manufacture systems that remain safe even when tested by human failure.

Workstream Leads: Lee James, Head of Global Maintenance, CHC and Rob Pendle, Director of Fleet, PHI Aviation

The Safety Reliability and Resilience Workstream focuses on two areas of The Safety Performance Model:

  1. Early diagnosis of potential failures

  2. Enhanced reliability of equipment, including fewer single point failures and system redundancy

“Our priorities are connecting the chain of people that design, maintain, operate and fly the aircraft to enhance reliability and resilience of the human-machine system”
