HeliOffshore Announces Inaugural Frontline Safety Leader Award
This week (30 May 2022), HeliOffshore’s CEO Tim Rolfe travelled to St John’s, Newfoundland, and presented the first ever HeliOffshore Frontline Safety Leader Award to Jonathan Walbourne at Cougar Helicopters.
The award was presented by Tim Rolfe alongside Ken Norie, President and CEO of Cougar Helicopters, and Hank Williams, Cougar’s Chief Operating Officer.
The Frontline Safety Leader Award celebrates individuals who have demonstrated exceptional safety leadership in a frontline role. The judges awarded the inaugural Frontline Safety Leader Award to Cougar Helicopters’ AME Jonathan in recognition of his consistent commitment to attention to detail and diligence in ensuring all potential flight safety hazards are fully investigated.
HeliOffshore CEO Tim Rolfe commented: “It’s great to support Cougar’s recognition that Jonathan practices the highest level of safety behaviours in his daily work and his actions have resulted in a potential flight safety issue being reported and shared across the community through the HeliOffshore InfoShare network.
“Strong safety leadership and actions like these are essential in enabling and ensuring the safe transport of passengers offshore every day. By recognising the exceptional safety service and leadership of individuals in our membership, we can inspire collaborative action across the industry to ensure there are no lives lost in offshore aviation.”
HeliOffshore has developed its award programme with members to recognise and reward effective safety leadership and to share learnings from frontline safety leaders across the HeliOffshore network.
Willis Jacobs, Safety and Quality Manager at Cougar Helicopters, who works closely with Jonathan, added: “Jonathan’s exceptional attention to detail and professionalism encapsulates the spirit and intent of the HeliOffshore Frontline Safety Leadership Award. I’m delighted a member of the Cougar Helicopters team is the first recipient of the award.”
