The 2024 HeliOffshore Safety Award Winners
HeliOffshore is pleased to announce this year's Safety Award Winners – individuals who have shown exceptional dedication to the improvement of our frontline safety performance.
Our Outstanding Contribution to Safety Award recognises individuals who have demonstrated consistent dedication to, and made a significant difference in, safety performance improvement.
This year’s winners are:
· Gilles Bruniaux, Vice President, Operational Fleet Safety, Airbus Helicopters (retired) – recognition of continuous support, contribution and leadership to multiple industry safety groups over decades of services.
· Tony Cramp, Vice President, Shell Aircraft and Chair, IOGP ASC – recognition of committed leadership and championing IOGP and collaboration with HeliOffshore at multiple levels.
· Simon Gill, Director, The Safeguarding Company – recognition for championing Human Hazard analysis, development of industry standard and leadership in the field of learning from expertise.
Our Safety Champion Award recognises individuals who have consistently participated in a HeliOffshore safety programme-related activity over several years or who have demonstrated a remarkable commitment to supporting a workstream.
This year’s Safety Champion award winners are:
· Lorraine Cameron, Senior Manager, Safety and Quality – Customer Excellence, CHC Helicopter – recognition of over three year’s Co-chairing the HeliOffshore Helideck Workgroup.
· John Parker, Aviation Authority, BP - recognition of over three year’s Co-chairing the HeliOffshore Helideck Workgroup and representing our industry at ICAO.
· Stephane Petit, Technical Audit- Fleet Safety Engineer, Airbus Helicopters – recognition of leadership and SME contribution to the development of the Helicopter Safety Rating Concept white paper.
· Tony Randall, Manager – Continued Operational Safety, Bell Flight - recognition of over three year’s Co-chairing, leading and authoring for the VAST Helicopter Safety Rating Workgroup.
Tim Rolfe, Chief Executive Officer, commented, “Recognising the exceptional efforts of individuals within our membership reminds us of all of the impact strong safety leadership and proactive actions can have on our industry’s performance. Each award winner committed to action and demonstrated the spirit of collaboration, bringing us one step closer to our collective mission – no lives lost in offshore aviation”.

There are two additional award categories, the Safety Leader Award and a new Frontline Safety Leader Award. The Safety Leader Award recognises exceptional leadership to improve our industry’s safety performance whilst the Frontline Safety Leader Award recognises individuals who have intervened or taken action to avert an accident or serious incident, or significantly reducing consequences.
