HeliOffshore publishes Maintenance Resilience White Paper

Today (20 July 2023), HeliOffshore published its new Maintenance Resilience White Paper, which acts as a catalyst for industry stakeholders to review current issues and policies around maintenance in the offshore aviation sector.

Developed in collaboration with the HeliOffshore Technical Steering Group, which includes representatives from across the offshore aviation industry, this white paper provides a critical analysis of current global maintenance operations.

The industry has faced a number of challenges over the last few years from COVID to fluctuations in demand for energy caused by conflicts and these affected how maintenance operations are carried out. Operators, MROs and OEMs have had to adjust to these new situations to carry out maintenance safely and efficiently.

Within this White Paper, there are subjects derived from dialogue with operators, OEMs, customers and industry experts. The paper focuses on two main issues and also features the current and future HeliOffshore initiatives that are influenced by the sector for use in maintenance operations.

This White Paper intends to contribute to a fundamental discussion concerning all areas of maintenance. It aspires to facilitate debate and reflection by including every level: from the frontline to the boardroom, dialogue and collaboration is crucial.

Scott Allan, Technical Director, HeliOffshore, commented: “We’re committed to identifying issues and opportunities to improve safety in the sector and creating forums for constructive communication. This new white paper highlights a range of issues around maintenance resilience and signposts the support that HeliOffshore can offer to maintenance and technical professionals, operators, and other stakeholders in offshore aviation.”

“The white paper draws attention to the importance of a robust safety culture, management systems and reporting structures as an integral part of a maintenance resilience programme within organisations, across MROs, Line Maintenance and OEMs. Enabling maintenance professionals to report incidents that may have an impact on operations is key, as is instilling a culture where individuals can be confident flagging issues

The future of safety is in everyone’s hands! All levels of maintenance operations play a pivotal role to save lives in the rotary industry. From the front line to the boardroom, we all should be involved and push forward collaboration to guarantee the best safety practices in the Heli-space”

The Maintenance Resilience White Paper will be reviewed periodically to allow for regular discussion around maintenance safety issues and considerations.
