News: Babcock’s David Plester Joins the HeliOffshore Board of Directors
David Plester, Managing Director for Babcock International’s UK civil aviation businesses, is joining the board of HeliOffshore Ltd. He is succeeding Andrea Cicero, who resigned from the board on 7th May after stepping down from his position as Managing Director of Babcock Mission Critical Services to pursue a new opportunity in the private equity sector.
“It has been a great pleasure to work with you all over the past two years and I would like to wish HeliOffshore every success for the future,” said Andrea Cicero.
“We are very pleased to welcome David to the board of HeliOffshore and I have no doubt he will provide strong leadership for our shared mission to enhance safety,” commented HeliOffshore Chairman Bill Chiles. “We are truly grateful for the excellent contribution of Andrea Cicero and wish him well in his new position.”
David will liaise closely with colleagues from across the Babcock International group to ensure that the global scope of its offshore activities are represented on the HeliOffshore board. With over 30 years of experience supporting a wide range of public and private sector clients, David recently took on his current role with Babcock after previously serving as CEO Northern Europe for the group’s civil aviation activities, including HEMS, para-public and oil and gas services. Key achievements in this role included securing contracts for HEMS services in Norway and doubling the size of Babcock’s overall business in the Nordic region.
Previously, David served as Managing Director of Babcock’s infrastructure business, which was responsible for delivery of Built Asset Management services for the UK Ministry of Defence. In this role, he oversaw a division, which had an annual turnover of around £350 million and 2,500 staff.
After earning a first class honours degree in Quantity Surveying, David completed the General Management Programme at Harvard Business School. He is a fellow of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors and a Henley Business School Certificate Coach.
David is a former Chairman of the Business Services Association and provides mentoring to final year students at Brunel University under the Women Into Science & Engineering initiative. He also sits on Babcock Corporate Safety Steering Group.
“I am delighted to be appointed to the board and look forward to continuing to help support the excellent work of HeliOffshore,” he commented. “I hope to be able to bring experience from my roles within Babcock to the organisation.”
